One of the first audio books I ever read was David Sonnenscheins Sound Design: The Expressive Power of Music, Voice and Sound Effects in Cinema Still holds to be one of my favorite books. I enjoyed Sound Design and Science Fiction as well.

In my mind, bringing more dialog into games brings more story along with it which is always a good thing. Even if it is subtle things like background characters, it all adds to the experience and enhances immersion. I havent played AC 4, but for some reason I recall previous AC's having a lot more b...

Nice I'm going to check that out when I get home tonight. It seems like there are a lot more discussions and a concentration on how to make sounds rather than how to mix them. A lot of times I find new techniques just by listening to others work. Finding a scene or sequence that you like in any form...

In my opinion, whatever is carrying the story at any given moment needs to be the focal point for the audience. I try to keep my mixes focused and obvious, and above all not distracting or annoying. Dialogue is king, and will almost always be the most present sound in your mix.
