The "Foliage" Library
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: September 1st, 2016
If you will be contributing to the library please click "Yes" on the poll. This will help encourage others to join the project. The more contributors we have the stronger the library will be.
The goal of this library is to capture sounds that represent foliage of all forms. Trees and bushes rustling in the wind. Branches breaking and falling out of trees. Footsteps through a wooded area, hearing the ground crack and snap below.
A few quick ideas but feel free to be creative and think of something new and useful:
Process:
Contributors will have until August 1st, 2016 to submit their recordings. After the submission date is reached, they will be QA'd. If they meet the requirements for the library the contributor will be notified. Notifications can sometimes take up to two or three weeks after a submission. Please be patient and monitor this forum for updates.
Format:
Filenames should start with a prefix of "FOLIAGE_" and specify the type afterwards. The rest of the filename should be used to describe the action performed and any other useful info. For example, "FOLIAGE_Tree_Leaves_Blow_Wind." Please use your best judgement when naming files.
If numbering variations please start with a suffix padding of "0" (_01,_ 02, 03).
Meta-Data:
Meta-data embedding isn't required. If you would like, please add meta-data that you think would be beneficial. It will not be altered or adjusted in any way.
Submission:
Upload your file(s) to a Google Drive account and share them with audibleworlds [at] gmail [dot] com.
Once the file is confirmed I will copy it to a master folder and notify the submitter that it has been received. When the submission deadline has passed I will grant contributors access to the password protected library. From here you can sync files to your local computer. I recommend using Google’s local app that you can download to your PC/Mac/Linux.
Please make sure your submission email has your correct contact name. If not, please leave a note (in the email or uploaded folder) when sharing your uploaded file so I can keep track of who has shared what. On previous projects people would send me files with no contact information and I had to track down further information.
Legal:
A contributors submission and involvement in this project is a digital signature that they agree to not sell or repackage the contents of this collection for redistribution in any way. By downloading and contributing to the project, contributors agree to give up any artistic credit required for using the submitted source recording. Original recordings submitted for this collection/project are free to use in commercial and personal projects without permission and/or without providing a credit to any specific contributor for their recorded submission(s).
Files submitted should not be from any previously released library or libraries, nor have the intent to be packaged with one. The submitted recordings should be unique to The "Foliage" library.

- Footsteps on foliage (slow and fast)
- Leaves being thrown
- Trees falling over

Format:
- - All files should be recorded at 96kHz, 24bit.
- Channel count should either be stereo or mono. If using a MS setup, please decode and make an interleaved stereo file.
- If the recording is of a continuous sound, please make it no more than 2-3 minutes. If it is a short sound, please try and get as many variations as possible (that sound different).
