Hey guys and gals,

I'm going to be honest that I haven't done much research about "worldizing" rigs but I thought it would make a neat discussion topic. Has anyone made a dedicated rig? Like an old, unused monitor speaker mounted to a small dolly with a battery? What do you usually use for worldizing? Share some pictures if you have them as well!

I did a small test some weeks ago. No battery powered rig but a long powerline instead.
I used a macbook pro for playback and a Bluesky monitor as speaker.
2 Mkh 8020 were recording onto a Sounddevices 702, placed 50 meter away, in a straight line from the speaker.
On another test I placed the mics in trees even further away (100 meter) .
A bigger PA would have been more useful I think. I would have been able to move the mics even further away and still get a good result.
Also, some sounds worked better then others. Dogs barking, windows breaking worked good I think. Also walla, where shouts and the like were in.
Im doing the real thing in winter when there are no birds, and less wind. I was struggling a bit with that.

Awesome! Maybe try some gunshots and explosions? That might get you in some trouble with the neighbors though. Haha!

I was throwing the idea around of using a megaphone. It totally adds character to the sound and restricts frequencies but in a pinch it might be easier to use (less setup) than something else. Most megaphones have a line in input so you can plug something in directly. I'd be interested in seeing how that sounds from 100 meters away. Worthy of a test at least.
